International Workers and New
Mission Systems International
NMSI has opportunities for internationals to work with us in the following ways. Application forms for the various categories are available through the NMSI affiliation department. All NMSI workers are encouraged to seek out local and regional networks for shared ministry venues, mutual encouragement, and peer accountability. We are not a denomination and so promote broad Christian fellowship that richly reflects the Body of Christ. As with all NMSI workers, in all categories of service, financial support from American donors and churches must be secured independently and then channeled through NMSI for accounting and distribution. (10% of all donations to NMSI, whether for workers of any category or special projects, is used for team services and operational/administrative expenses.)
NMSI has four categories for international workers:
International Missionary
These workers are primarily leaders of existing ministries that have a more regional and/or cross-cultural scope and vision.
?xml:namespace>
These workers will generally:
- Be an established leader
- Be able to speak English or have easily accessible translators
- Have a passport allowing travel out of their country
- Have a funding network already established
?xml:namespace>
These workers participate fully in NMSI services and activities:
- International (every 3 years) and regional retreats
- Newsletter and printing services
- Training (tailored to meet specific needs)
- Pastoral Care and Field Advising from NMSI staff as requested
- Ministry reporting, goal setting, and visioning on a quarterly basis with NMSI staff
- Web page listing as desired
- Health insurance (optional if desired)
International Associate
These are workers with more limited NMSI corporate requirements, but they also receive fewer services. The scope and vision of these workers tend to be less international and cross-cultural.
This might be a category to remain in for years, or it could be a place to start before an International Missionary status is really needed and/or appropriate.
These workers will generally:
- Already be in a ministry leadership position
- Be able to speak English or have easily accessible translators
- Have a funding network already established, or a strong potential base
These workers participate in a limited way with NMSI services and activities:
- Retreats when desired and funds available
- Publication services on a fee basis
- Limited pastoral care and field advising from NMSI staff
- Ministry reporting, goal setting, and visioning on a yearly basis to NMSI staff
- Special listing on the web page
International Apprentice
This is a good position for those learning the life of ministry, working alongside an established ministry or an area with NMSI missionaries. A
Mentor will be identified, who does not need to be an NMSI worker but will need to relate well with NMSI structures and staff.
These workers will generally:
- Be younger and/or just starting off in ministry
- Be able to speak English
- Have sufficient funding with or without any outside funding or network
These workers participate in a limited way with NMSI services and activities:
- Retreats when desired and funds available
