Update from NMSI missionaries Nego and Ellen Louis in Jacmel, Haiti

We are doing well here in Jacmel. Things in Port-au-Prince are still messy, and some worry what effects might reach us here in Jacmel over the next few weeks. At this time, our ministry has continuously worked to purify and distribute water for as many people as we can. The youth in our ministry have helped in these efforts by running chlorine pumps. We are ready to provide more relief as soon as the financial support becomes available.

I have written to tell you of some great news which has come from this tragedy already. Today (Monday), I have baptized two of our youth. They were very grateful to God for protecting them in the earthquake and did not want to wait another day to give their lives to him. These are some of the youth Ellen and I have been ministering to here. I am very proud to have baptized them and that they wanted to do it today.

The second good news is that we were able to bring some food supplies to youth in our ministry who were in great need. Even though the food was a limited supply, it ensures they will eat for a week. We hope to provide more food and supplies very soon. Also, we were able to provide some food for an orphanage that had run out that day. Again, it was small, but gave the workers something to feed the children for the time being.

We thank God that He has helped us be able to do all these things at this very moment. We hope to do more and wait for what will happen next in Jacmel. We can see, and we know, that the situation will only get worse for a while.

Please keep praying for us. We encourage you to be a part of what is happening right now in Haiti. Please also pray for the protection of the Haitian people. Many prisons were damaged in the earthquake allowing the prisoners to go free. You can image the situation would b
