Fall 2008 COAT Group

Saturday, November 01, 2008 - rflory
Wednesday, October 25 marked the beginning of the Fall COAT (Community, Orientation, Assessment and Training) program at the Center for Global Outreach (CGO) in Fort Myers, FL. The eight-week COAT program begins with three days of Discover NMSI where participants learn about the heart of our organization. This fall 18 adults will complete COAT training on their way to unique ministries all around the globe.

Individuals, couples, and families all come to NMSI with different visions in various stages of planning. This unique COAT group includes many participants who have already served at least one term with NMSI. AfricaHope missionaries Jordan and LeeAnne Johnson, Jessica Dearlove, and Sarah Boling will all go through COAT this fall while on furlough.  Jenni Snyder returns to NMSI this fall after leaving to work for Ozark Christian College in Joplin, MO. Jenni will deploy to Cambodia to minister to girls traumatized by sex trafficking. Other familiar faces include past summer interns and long-term friends of the mission.

NMSI has always desired to train not just adults, but children of families ministering overseas as well. Abigail Alter began developing our COAT Kids training program last year. COAT Kids provides more formal training for children of all ages which appropriately corresponds to the adult material. This fall four young children (preschool and younger) will face the hard transition of leaving familiar lives in America.

Please pray for all of our COAT participants and their families and for those facilitating program components. If you would like to attend a future COAT, please contact Affiliation at the CGO office.
