Third NMSI trip into Delta region
For the third time since cyclone Nargis devastated the Irrawaddy Delta region in Myanmar, national NMSI missionaries have been allowed to enter, bringing much needed supplies and hope.

NMSI missionaries continue to do all that they are able as they minister to the those left homeless and susceptible to disease following the devastation just weeks ago.  The Myanmar government has kept a close watch on any activity into that area, severely limiting the aid that has been ready to help the victims.

NMSI's Center for Global Outreach (CGO) is in contact with these missionaries, praying for them and sending funds that are coming in from individual supporters and churches in the States. As soon as these much-needed funds are sent to our missionaries in Yangon, they are translated into rice supplies, water systems and much needed medicine to ward off disease from the surrounding death and decay.

As stories and photos come in from Myanmar, we will update you with our news. Please pray for the Burmese people at this critical time.  Pray for our missionaries as they continue to meet the real physical and spiritual needs of the Irrawaddy Delta region.

NMSI is accepting donations toward relief efforts and continues distributing relief supplies.
With your gift, we can:

Provide help to an entire family--$100
Construct digging wells--$100
Rebuild a home--$400
Build a water system to supply clean water indefinitely for 1000 people--$3000

Urgent need: $30,000 for vehicle to deliver relief supplies
As the monsoon season arrives, a quality 4x4 vehicle is needed to carry the team and relief supplies into the devastated areas.

A month later.
Two million people are at increasing risk of disease, starvation, and the consequences of exposure following the devastating cyclone Nargis on May 3.  The damage from the cyclone has far reaching effects for the years to come.  Myanmar is currently in its rice planting season, and seed stocks have been destroyed by the cyclone. The next rice harvest after this one will be in May 2009.  These aftereffects of the cyclone have the potential to overshadow the immediate effects of the storm itself.
