NMSI workers in Myanmar are doing what they can for those around them affected by the cyclone. Prices for basic goods have tripled in the wake of the disaster while other goods and services have completely skyrocketed. Stocks of many items are disappearing while large scale international efforts are being delayed due to visa issues and the fear that the government will try to siphon off aid supplies.
All of NMSI's Myanmar staff have checked in safe and are hoping to scale up their relief efforts. $100 is enough to provide help to an entire family. Your help is desperately needed to help bridge the gap until major international efforts begin to take hold.
Hundreds of thousands are in urgent need of aid in Myanmar following a cyclone and tidal wave that struck the country on Saturday. Myanmar state media now report more than 22,000 deaths from the storm. Some sources fear as many as 100,000 may be dead. Most of those killed were killed by the tidal wave which destroyed many villages completely.
Need for clean water, food, and shelter is very high. NMSI is accepting donations toward relief efforts and will begin these efforts as soon as funds are available and communication is restored.
